At close to 400 years old Hartford is one of the country?s oldest cities. It is home to the Wadsworth Athenium, the oldest art museum in the country. Literature lovers love Hartford as it is home of the Mark Twain house, which was once the residence of Samuel Clemens, otherwise known as Mark Twain. The home is now a museum. The author of Uncle Tom?s Cabin, also lived in Hartford and her home the Harriet Beecher Stowe House and Research Center is also a museum.
