Women Song Event Heartstone Farm & Winery - 1st Annual Wine, Women & Song Festival Locally Crafted Wines, 3 Women Fronted Bands, Artists, Crafters & Food

Event Details

Local band November Sound has partnered with Heartstone Farm and Winery to produce the first annual Wine, Women, and Song Craft Festival on Sunday, May 29, 2022. This idyllic location is easily accessible at 468 Route 87 in Columbia, Connecticut and features an array of diverse musical personalities, local artisans, proprietary local wine fermented onsite and served to perfection. Melissa Rood will emcee this event in addition to stepping into her lead singing role for the pop indie musical trio, November Sound. That group just released a fourth studio album entitled Centurion with several compelling and original tracks composed by festival co-organizer Bill Rood.

Members of November Sound may be a driving force in organizing this year’s Wine, Women, and Song Craft Festival, but they’re sharing this day with so many others. Also appearing in the singing arena is the “Dulcimers n More” group bringing a healthy dose of easy listening, traditional, and Celtic music to festival guests. The Patty Tuite Group, too, will perform, bringing a seamless blend of blues, jazz, and classic rock to the airwaves with a style largely inspired by the tunes of Ella Fitzgerald, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, and Etta James. Tuite’s latest album release, “Consider This,” was produced by Grammy award winner Paul Nelson, featuring him playing acoustic, electric, and slide guitar to complement Tuitte’s spellbinding melodies. Asked about her participation, Tuitte says, “This year we’ve added another woman musician: a great multi-instrumentalist named Peggy Ann Contos Harvey. She plays violin, harmonica, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, and is great at singing harmony. She will be performing as part of our trio at Heartstone.” The full Patty Tuitte Group includes other very talented musicians with Jan Jungden on keys, Judi Thompkins on drums, and one male member – Mark Annulli on bass.

Between notes and lyrics, and when not sipping from Heartstone’s one-of-a-kind, divine wine list or munching on charcuterie treats, guests can amble among various vendor booths. The All Things Bakeshop will serve up some sugary sweets by licensed baker Jessica Hamilton whose Facebook page notes her specialty in offering “assorted baked goods and cakes for your special celebration or sweet tooth.” John Marshall’s Bespoke Wood Artistry will be there if you’re seeking some handmade artisan creations. Gary Stevens will donate 10% of all of all gross sales to organizations serving the needs of disabled military veterans. Find him at the G. Michael Design vendor booth.

Hebron-based clay shaper Tina Marie will be on the scene with her uniquely designed kiln fired wares, describing her organization in quite poetic terms: “Hearthstone Mud Studio is a pottery and ceramic studio that rekindles the magic of playing with mud and fire.” At the Wine, Women, and Song Craft Festival, you’ll witness the products of that mud-fire exchange firsthand. Rachel Riendeau brings yet another dimension to this captivating experience with her artwork and alpaca fiber products. Tiffany Richards of Richards Farm brings a fine selection of goat milk soap which carries the increasingly rare distinction of being all natural and free of chemical additives. As if that long list of names isn’t enough, Allison brings her inventory of artisanal dog treats for your furry friends with her Willow and Maples satellite storefront featured exclusively at Heartstone Farm and Winery for one day only.

With these ingredients, music and art will converge in a vibrant celebration of vocal, instrumental, and artistic gifts. Bill Rood of November Sound notes his vision, that “I hope people will come away inspired by this array of female diversity and talent.” This fresh take on human creativity spotlights a lesser-known arena in what is already Connecticut’s Quiet Corner. Note that this is the inaugural occasion of many monthly themed celebrations planned at Heartstone Farm and Winery for the coming months. Don’t miss July’s midsummer day “Blueberry Festival.” August will feature the “Summertime, Summertime” event with its vintage oldies theme. September brings “Smooth Jazz Sunday” while October’s “Harvest Festival” will anchor the 2022 Heartstone festival season.
